If only there was another word...

For fashion that is. I have spent all week gearing up for this departments Fashion Show and despite all my reservations and concerns I am really enjoying designing for the body. As with each project I try my best to figure out where I fit into this 'textile' spectrum at the back of my head, niggling away, is "If only there were another word for fashion...which doesn't mean...fashion. With all the connotations, the bad practice and awful workmanship. But then again, maybe I'm enjoying the project because I'm redesigning the old fashioned men's working smock and in my own way celebrating the craftsman. And since it's only a very small show I'm in no danger of making it all a bit too pastoral and "fashionable"!

EmbroideryTastic: Work from the moment

The following embroideries were produced December 2009 for an interiors company. What I'm working on at the moment is shown above - translating and adapting the textiles for a fashion setting to be used in the GSA Fashion Show 2010 in March.

Just so I am no longer one...

This post is just to make sure I don't leave my first post so long that I'm too scared to do it!

Plus, slightly peturbed that under 'industry' in the profile section nowhere does it say designer or maker. Shocker.
